Clients For investors and their families: bring your own account statements and this page describes, in plain English with a citation for each pattern, what the numbers in them already say.

Lawyers For counsel, clinics, and researchers: ask the public record about a firm, a representative, or a fund — every answer carries the filing it came from.

How it works: records in, cited descriptions out — general legal information with sources, never advice about anyone's case; nothing is published, no one is contacted, and this site transmits no message of yours. Read the guide · see a finished sample reading

What your statements already say.

A free tool that reads your own trading records and points at patterns the law already has names for — flags, not accusations. Your files are read on your own device and kept by no one.

How it works

and where your files go
EVERYTHING IN THIS BOX HAPPENS ON YOUR OWN DEVICE Your statements PDF · CSV · Excel The analysis pace · holding time fees · product terms Your report plain + for counsel sec.gov — ticker-shaped symbols only, for funds not already known. Never names, numbers, amounts or dates.

Exactly what leaves, and how to check it. One thing leaves: a ticker-shaped symbol — one to five letters, like BNOV or BRK.B — for a fund we do not already hold on file, sent to sec.gov to read that fund’s own published terms. Nothing travels with it: not your name, not an account number, not an amount, not a date, not the file. Anything in your symbol column that is not ticker-shaped is never sent at all — the report names those back to you as symbols it could not look up. Check it the right way: that request is made by this program on your own machine, not by your browser, so your browser’s network tab will never show it and its silence proves nothing either way. The check that settles it is to switch the lookup off — start the program with ALETHEUS_OFFLINE=1 and no request is made at any point; the analysis then runs on the filings that ship with it, and the report says so.

Before we read anything

six questions · the last two optional · they change what the numbers mean

1 · Whose account is this?

If you’re only exploring, the demonstration below shows you everything without any file.

2 · Who decided what to buy and sell?

This is the one that matters most. When someone trades for you without asking, the law measures that conduct differently than your own trading. If you traded yourself, we will say so plainly and skip the standards that don’t apply.

3 · What were you told this money was for?

What you were promised is the yardstick everything else is measured against — not what the market happened to do.

4 · What made you look today?

Only changes how the report talks to you. Nothing here is stored.

5 · What kind of account is this? (optional)

Optional. The same trading reads differently in different account types — inside a retirement account, rapid trading and option activity raise questions of their own, and every dollar of cost comes out of money growing tax-deferred. This answer stays on this page and in your report; it is never sent in any search.

6 · How much risk did you say you could accept? (optional)

Optional. A pattern of trades is measured against the risk you said you could take — and if nobody ever asked you, that is worth knowing in itself. This answer stays on this page and in your report; it is never sent in any search.

Where the money went

every registered fund · from their own SEC filings

Each month, every fund in the country tells the SEC how much came in and how much went out. Nobody reads it, because it arrives as 440 MB quarterly archives. This is that data, reduced to the funds investors put the most money into — and pulled the most out of — across the whole market rather than one broker's customers.
