Public records & account research · Free to use
For law school clinics.
What it is
Aletheus is a free research workspace for securities clinics serving the public. It helps students and supervising lawyers find public records, examine account activity, and prepare drafts for counsel’s review.
What it does today
- Type one thing — a firm or fund name, CIK, CRD, ticker, fund series or share-class id, legal entity identifier, surname, or EDGAR filing URL — and every public source this tool has cleared answers: searched with its own dates and citations, linked for you to open, or not searched with the reason.
- Search 20 years of SEC investment-adviser rosters, with source dates and coverage limits.
- Analyze account activity with measurements and rule citations.
- Prepare demand-letter and Statement of Claim drafts, leaving legal claims, damages, and forum decisions to counsel.
- Explore macro trends in reported fund cash movements.
Verify every figure and citation against the original records before use.
What it never does
No legal advice, accusations, or rankings. It files nothing and contacts no one. No AI runs when you use it. It never scrapes FINRA; it provides links for you to open yourself.
Where your data goes
No account or login. Requests are not logged. Hosted uploads are processed in memory and discarded (the hosted copy does not parse PDF statements; a local install writes a PDF to a private temporary folder only while the text extractor reads it, then deletes it). A local install processes uploaded files on your machine; public-record lookups may contact source providers. Read Privacy & terms.
Try it
Try it with a fictional case. See the analysis and both drafts without providing client records. The trades are invented; the firm is a real public registrant used only as a lookup example.
Free for clinics
